Hanuman Mandir - Karol Bagh

In Karol Bagh - Central Delhi - there is a Temple called the Hanuman Mandir. It has the India's highest statue of Hanuman (the Monkey god). This temple is said to have been around since 1724. People have been here praying to Hanuman at this temple for hundreds of years.

Please pray for those people that come to this temple daily. Pray that someone will tell them about Jesus! Pray for those that live in fear and worship at this temple because of the fear they live in. Pray that they will come to know Jesus - the one that casts out all fear!

Shahjahanabad - Old Delhi!

Shahjahanabad, also called Old Delhi, is considered by most as the symbolic heart of Delhi. There are 37,035 people per square mile living in this area of the city! Please pray for this area of the city! Pray that the heart of the city changes and has a heart for Christ! Pray that those in Old Delhi will learn about Jesus and have a NEW life in Christ!

Save the Girl Child

"Save the Girl Child" is a phrase said in Delhi by the activists for female children. Female feticide is a big problem in Delhi. Many pregnant women have illegal sonograms that tell them if they are having a boy or a girl. After finding out they are having a girl, many women will abort their baby.

The world average is 1000 girls for every 1,050 boys!

Right now in Delhi there are 866 girls for every 1,000 boys!

Please pray for the women of Delhi who are currently pregnant and trying to decide if they want to keep their female babies or not. Pray that they won't kill their babies. Every life in precious and is created by God!

"For you created my inmost being;

you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

Chitra Navratri / Ramayana Week

This week is Ramayana Week. It is April 4-12. The holiday ends on April 12th - the birthday of the god Ram. In Delhi (and much of North India) it coincides with another holiday called Vasant (or Chitra) Navratri. It celebrates the Goddess Durga, Lakshmi & Saraswati. They are worshiped during this time and it is celebrated like a small Durga Puja.

The Ramayan is considered one of the two great epic stories of India (the other is the Mahabharata), so during Ramayana Week, many people celebrate by reading the entire Ramayan. In many temples there is someone reading or reciting it non-stop for the entire 9 days. Many Hindus fast during this time (either the entire week or just on the last day) and will eat only fruits and milk. Most Hindus will just fast from certain foods.

Please pray for the people of Delhi during this time! Whenever it is holiday time in Delhi, people are more likely to want to talk about spiritual things.

Please also pray for the Christians during this time. Pray that they will not be afraid and hide during this time, but that they will be bold and share their faith with their Hindu friends and neighbors.

The Masses

Delhi is home to millions of people! The average number of people per sq. km. in India is 382 people - but in Delhi there are 11,297 people per sq. km.!!!!!! Delhi is a full of millions of people that don't know Jesus! Please pray for the millions of people in Delhi! Pray that they will come to know Jesus!! Pray that someone tells them!

TODAY - World Cup Cricket Finals!

Today is the final match of the ICC Cricket World Cup. Today India is playing Sri Lanka for the title. All day today people in Delhi will be watching the match. Please pray for the safety of those in Delhi (and the rest of the country!) Many people will be drinking and celebrating during this match. Pray that nobody drinks and drives. Pray that people don't get into fights and that nobody gets injured.

Pray for the Christians of Delhi to use this time as an opportunity to tell other about Jesus. Pray that Christians open their homes to their neighbors to watch the game together. Pray that they use that time to share with them about Jesus! Pray for lives to be changed!

World Cup Cricket!

Tomorrow India plays Sri Lanka in the championship final of the ICC Cricket World Cup! Please pray for safety during the match. Pray that there aren't any acts of terrorism at this event. Pray for the Christians at the match. Pray that they share with those sitting around them! Pray that they are bold in sharing their faith!
